Layer Stacking

How to perform layer stacking in ERDAS Imagine? - Step by Step Guide to Generate Multispectral Composite Image

Introduction

Layer stacking is a process of combining multiple raster layers into a single raster layer. It is a common technique used in remote sensing to create a composite image from multiple images. Layer stacking can be used to combine images from different sensors, different dates, or different bands to create a single image that contains all the information from the original images.

Method

To perform layer stacking in ERDAS Imagine, follow these steps:

  1. Open ERDAS Imagine and load the raster layers you want to stack.

  2. Go to the Raster menu and select Layer Stack.

  3. In the Layer Stack dialog box, select the input raster layers you want to stack.

    💡

Arrange the layers from shorter to longer wavelength.

  4. Choose the output file format and location for the stacked layer.

  5. Click OK to start the layer stacking process.
